SCIENCE FAIR MENTORING

Concept/Goals of SciFi Buddies:

• Provide science fair students an extra resource from which they can learn new skills and ideas which they can apply to their project
• Give SMU students the opportunity to expand on what they have learned in the classroom
• Connect SMU students with the broader community
• Spark curiosity and ingenuity in STEM related projects !

Example:

• A student majoring in biology would be matched with a middle schooler doing a biology related project who could learn a new technique or process in the field of biology
• Student and mentor would meet periodically (virtually) to discuss project progress
