2020-21 Science Fair Season Mentor Archive

Hi there ! My name is Adele and I am currently pursuing a Geophysics BS, Dance Performance BFA. I joined SciFi Buddies because I want to help mentor and shape the minds of young adults while encouraging curiosity and creativity! Sharing my love of learning is one of the most exciting things that I look forward to as I advance in the STEM field, and I hope to make STEM more accessible and approachable field to a wider population of individuals. I’m interested in Biomechanics/kinesiology, musculoskeletal injuries, injury prevention, structural design, mechanics, geophysics, seismology, earth science, sedimentology, environmental science, anything physics or math related! A fun fact about me is that I'm a huge baseball fan!

" Hi there ! My name is Claire Janssen, and I am currently a freshman majoring in both Chemistry as well as Psychology. I am a dual citizen with citizenship in the United States as well as the Netherlands and I can also speak Dutch! I joined Sci-Fi Buddies because I’ve always had a passion for STEM research, so when I heard about this opportunity to help other people with new projects I knew I would love it! I’m excited to use my previous experiences with science research projects and my academic studies to help with the science fair projects. "

" Hey, my name is Sarah Massar and I am majoring in Dance and Pre-Physical Therapy. I am from Charleston, SC. Science fairs are a great way for middle and high school students to explore new areas in the science field that they are curious to learn more about but may not have had the opportunity to learn about in their everyday classes. I believe that these students deserve the opportunity to have additional guidance from someone of the collegiate level in order to maximize their success in their research and presentation. I am also excited to possibly learn something new!"

" Hey, my name is George and I am currently a sophomore majoring in Chemistry & Applied Math. I joined SciFi Buddies to help students pursue their interests in scientific research in whatever field they enjoy. I’m interested in Anything related to chemistry, math, neuroscience, cognition, or natural sciences! I’ve done a literature review about the synthesis pathways of nitric oxide in the past and I love talking about neuroscience. A fun fact about me is that I am an avid rock climber & the president of the SMU rock climbing club! "
